The Exhibition “Epopee of Pleven - 1877”

The biggest in Bulgaria exhibition of original objects connected with the Russo-Turkish war 1877-1878 was situated on an area of 400 square meters. Part of these objects were given by the Russian and Romanian ministries of war as long ago as 1903-1907 while the War history museums were being arranged. In the course of time a lot of new objects were received in the funds. They were found by museum workers, given as presents by participants in the war, by their descendents or by citizens. The numerous things found at the battlefields testify to the bloody battles which have taken place near Pleven, they remind us of the soldiers who have died here.

The Pleven Epopee has been traced chronologically. You can realize the importance of the town of Pleven in the course of the war. Separate halls are dedicated to eminent commanders of the Russian and Romanian armies and to the heroes who fought for Pleven. There are uniforms and armaments, personal belongings of the participants in the battles, military equipment, artillery shells, guns, etc., field-engineer tools.
